Wildman Athletica Programming

Which principal of our methodology would you like to learn about?

Tetris of Training

This philosophy uses “blocks” of training time to create a “planning matrix”, making a blueprint for a fully-interactive, flexible, and customized plan that includes any number of different programs, to manage the many demands of daily life.

Nerd Math

“Nerd Math” is a Wildman Athletica-exclusive training strategy that gives athletes a path through our programs using principles of non-linear advancement.

About Nerd Math

NERD MATH

What is nerd math?

“Nerd Math” is...

  • A Wildman Athletica-exclusive system using numbers and math to guide training progression
  • Built on non-linear advancement — not traditional, linear training tactics
  • Prevents overtraining by design, so athletes can train consistently without burning out
  • Helps athletes track progress and complexity over time

Why nerd math

Every program in the Nerd Math system follows this basic model, eschewing “traditional” training tactics in favor of a “non-linear” approach to training.

  • Expedites results while reducing injury risk across all fitness levels
  • Grounded in science: neurological efficiency is the foundation of mastery
  • Mastery is achieved through long-term repetition of fundamentals — Nerd Math structures exactly that

Nerd Math is a cornerstone ideology in the wider Wildman Athletica philosophy.

It was almost an accident that we came to discover how far we could go with our clientele—and with training.

  • Rooted in the flexibility and near-limitless potential of both classic and modern training tools
Gain expert-level technique
  • Reduces injury risk, freeing athletes to pursue expert-level technique
  • Develops core athletic skills that provide a competitive edge across every metric of athleticism
Programs that use Nerd Math

Nearly all Wildman Athletica programs incorporate Nerd Math in some form. Flagship examples:

  • Kettlebell Swings Program
    Kettlebell Clean & Press Program

Tetris of Training

What is Tetris of Training?

All programs from Wildman Athletics are meant to fit seamlessly into a scheduling philosophy that we have dubbed “Tetris of Training.”

  • A scheduling philosophy used across all Wildman Athletics programs
  • Training is broken into themed exercise intervals arranged as time blocks
  • These blocks can be arranged into a complete training schedule — like Tetris pieces fitting together

Why Tetris of Training?

By utilizing this method, we are able to fit a series of set, organized training periods into “blocks” of time, all of which are grouped according to a common theme or “family” of movement.

  • Groups training into organized blocks by common movement themes or "families"
  • Supports short, intermediate, and long-term planning
  • Schedules can be detailed & specific or open-ended & flexible
  • Built to adapt to the varying, time-sensitive needs of real athletes

How Our Programs Tetris Together

How our programs Tetris together

  • All Wildman Athletica programs are designed to plug into other disciplines — Kettlebell, Heavy Club, Mace, Olympic Lifting, Yoga, conventional gym, and more
  • The goal: maximize training time for efficient, high-volume results — even under tight scheduling pressure
  • This approach is fully customizable and adaptable to virtually any variable or training need

Most of our programs work best if done 2x per week:

Example week: Kettlebells ×2 + Heavy Clubs ×2 + Mace ×2 + Bodyweight ×2 = 8 complete workouts

Flexible to your needs

An athlete may stack up a bunch of programs throughout the workout week.

  • How you stack and sequence programs is entirely up to you — that flexibility is the core strength of the system
  • Programs can be scheduled morning, noon, or night, across different overall lengths
  • Every program includes a published estimated run time so athletes can plan precisely and manage time effectively

A note from Mark Wildman
  • Programs are designed with specific runtimes (~20, 30, or 40 min) so workouts are easy to stack into a custom schedule
  • Never repeat the same workout on back-to-back training days — always allow a rest day between sessions of the same type
  • Example: Kettlebell Swings on Monday & Thursday, Clean & Press on Wednesday & Saturday
  • Schedule any combination across the week, as long as same-program days are non-consecutive
  • Train with what you have — if you only own one piece of equipment, there's a program built around it
